As a representative of the Liverpool World Centre I am looking forward to attending an International Seminar in Vienna titled ‘From Coming and Going’. The focus of this conference is on the SDGs and in particular looking at Migration. This event is being organised by Sudwind Tirol the Austrian partner in our exciting EU ‘Get up and Goals’ Project.
In Vienna there will be an opportunity for all 12 partners in the above project to come together and discuss the education aspects of the project as well as examine the value of global learning and its impact on young people. This project has been in operation since 2018 and aims to raise awareness about Global Citizenship Education and the Sustainable Development Goals in formal education. The SDGs were adopted by all the countries of the United Nations in September 2015.
The aim of this conference is to bring together a group of 60 people from the 12 partner countries to discuss the impact of Migration and consider how we support young people learning about this sensitive global issue. I am here with some representatives from a range of experiences and backgrounds (Gill Dickinson, Janet Convery and Alex Mitchell) who will all contribute to the debates and feedback to discussions linked to our project back in the UK. Over the coming days we will be highlighting our experiences working alongside our European project partners in Vienna.
